Jesus's Example
“…have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil motives?” James 2:4
There was a man who lived long ago who walked on this earth, who shared meals with the poor and the wealthy alike; wealth find in their homes or the lack thereof did not matter, they were not his focus.
Fine food at a wedding feast was a meal just as a piece of fish and a slice of bread-the food fueled the body that’s what mattered, for that moment.
In His walks through the cobblestone streets filled with merchants, buyers, and sellers, he viewed them all as sheep needing a shepherd; he did not want their money, he wanted to sell the truth for free.
The poor needed heart-healing, the wealthy just the same. No difference, no regard given one over another, all were ill in His sight.
A woman with a disease touched him, he spoke to her, and she was healed. A healthy and wealthy young man spoke of his own goodness until he was asked to leave his wealth behind-he did not and was never healed.
A soldier of the State, whose daughter was ill, was healed, with a word and faith. His neighborhood, were he spent His youth, did not receive Him, no faith-no miracle occurred there.
His motives were pure, His heart towards all people. The longing of His heart was for their freedom even when His freedom was nailed on a cross.
Do you make distinctions between different people?
Do you treat wealthy people better than the poor?
Are you a sojourner in this life or a resident?
Heavenly Father, thank you for coming to this earth and showing us your example on how to live this life. We often fail. Forgive us our failures and teach us to show care and love without partiality.
