Success
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8
Christians in America as compared to the rest of the world are highly successful—as far as prosperity goes. With that prosperity should come certain obligations to help the poor, the needy, the fatherless, the widows…
Yet, the human heart is exceedingly wicked… it desires more possessions than what is feasible, what is controllable, and what is right.
Each and every day thousands throughout the world, both Christian and non-Christian die for lack of basic food, medicine, or even water. Many do not have the ‘success’ of prosperity that we’ve so been blessed with. All they have is their faith. It’s a simple faith, plain-wrapped, with no extras… as they look to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and the hope for heaven… as on earth they’ve suffered greatly. Their greatest joy on this earth is the Word of God or hearing a gospel message on the radio… this and sharing their faith… that’s enough for them.
Father, help us to remember and give to those in need. Here in America we’ve been overly-blessed, sometimes too much so… help us… to help them. Change our hearts O God, to look on the needs of others… instead of on our own.
