The Narrow Gate

"Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” Matthew 7:13-14

That narrow gate is Jesus Christ. Today, there are many millions who are seeking their own pathway to Heaven but they are taking the broad way—the way to destruction. Today’s culture condemns strongly such a statement, a statement that excludes… yet could that very culture be in error? Each day we are given a choice: who will you believe, the culture presented to you on television or the words given by God in the Bible? God is very direct—his teachings very precise—the way, the truth, and life comes only through Christ Jesus—God’s Son.

That pathway to Heaven is open for all of humanity if and when they accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and turn from their sins. Unfortunately, millions will not accept Christ—they have chosen to reject the sacrifice of Christ on the cross—they have rejected God’s plan.

That is why if you know Christ as Lord and Savior your rejoicing should never end, your bliss never full, for great is your reward in Christ. As a Christian, you should expect to be turned away, you should accept to be discounted, to be scoffed at, made fun of… for you Christian bear the image of Christ. The world rejected him—they will reject you.

Our comfort and our peace comes from God’s Word. Each day seek more of it, read more of it, love its pages, its stories, its truths, and heed its warnings. We are to be gentle and yet wise, bold and yet discerning, loving and yet hating sin—not the person—abhor their sin and yours as well.

Christian, our days are numbered. Christ coming is nearing with each passing moment, each completed breath. We are to redeem our present time to further the Gospel of Christ while there is time, while there is freedom to do so, and while we remain. Let us be cleansed by the washing of God’s Word over our hearts, let us be vessels that God can and desires to use. To warn this generation of the dangers found in the broad way—to influence their hearts to seek the narrow way—Christ Jesus, our Lord.

Father, no one knows the hour of your Son’s return. Yet, your Word declares that we can know the season. We look around us and we see Israel reestablished according to your Word. We see that men’s hearts have grown cold and that people love sin rather than righteousness. We see perversion on all fronts; an ever increasing in wickedness rather than holiness. Humanity ever seeks to solve their own problems and yet we miserably fail. Father, we look around us and sense that the season is right for your soon return. Lord, give us boldness to speak your truth unashamedly, and your grace to speak your truth in love.
